Maguire's quick detailing spray

Is this any good? Do you put this on your car after or before you wash?

It's ok, basically it works to give the shine back to a car after a tiny bit of dust gets on it. I personally would rather just wash my car and dry it well, thereby leaving only the wax and no chance of scratching the car. If your car is very clean, the quick detailer will give it a nice shine, but I don't know if the shine is any better than a great wax job by itself.

What does wax do for a car anyways? How exactly do I apply it anyways?

Wax protects your paint and gives it a nice shine. If you follow the instructions on the bottle, you'll be just fine.

Almost every company makes a "detailing spray" that is basically used to help clean the paint if lightly dusty or help the wax last longer. It offers a lot of lubrication (like soap does), but very little protection all by itself. It can make a tired wax job slippery again, but only if there is any wax left.

Usually used after a wash, or as part of a "quick detailing" routine where you dust the car off and wipe it down with detailing spray to clean the paint only if it is not too dirty. You can do this without a duster and with careful use of good towelling, but it works much better with a duster. If in doubt if a car is too dirty or not, wash. Dried on dirt from after the car has been wet usually should be washed off.

No... it's my parents' car. I just detail it.

You're right! That's another extremely common use, but I forgot all about that one. You can use it for bug splatter too.

I actually keep a tiny spray bottle of this stuff in my car for exactly these things.

The detailing spray is very useful for the bugs you get on the front of your car. Cleans up nicely and looks good IMO afterwards. Of course I wouldn't attempt the whole car but a spot here and there is fine.
