Has anyone that has a corksport intake or aftermarket intake taken their mazda in for maintenance while under warranty? If I take my car in for an oil change will they make note of the corksport intake and if something happens later possibly say that the corksport did it?

Obviously if something did happen to my engine I would remove the intake, but do they make notes of these things? Anyone have any issues with the dealers?

This is a common question - Corksport answers it on their website very well. There are a few threads here, too, about it.

Most people either (1) find a mod-friendly dealer if they need service, or (2) return the car to stock before taking it in to the dealer. You'll have to make a decision.

Yes, the dealer will note the aftermarket part, BUT they have to prove it caused whatever issue you might have with the car, before they can deny your warranty. Some dealers are better than others.

If you have a local car club, you could join and then ask them who might be a friendly dealer to go to in your area.

Thanks for the info. Hopefully I won't need to go to the dealer for anything, but if I do i will be sure to keep the stock air filter and box handy.

As for oil changes... does anyone have a favorite place to take their car other than the dealer?

Favorite place for oil changes: my driveway. All garages I've ever been to do a downright horrible job and cannot be trusted.

For any engine related work, yes, you should absolutely remove your SRI if it seems it could be any way related. Otherwise don't worry.

Just take it off.. Takes like 30 seconds to have it off. Then install the oem. That's what I did for my oil change. But then again I was service records from "certified" mechanics just in case a warranty issue arises . My worthless 2¢

My prior Mazda had the oil pan cross-threaded by some knucklehead at an oil change service. I found out the next time I changed the oil that the oil filler plug was leaking and subsequently would not tighten correctly. That was the LAST time I'll ever pay someone to change my oil until I'm physically unable to do it. Advance Auto around here has used oil recycling for free. Just take your old oil to the store and pour it into the big container.

see that ^^^^^ is why I have my local dealer change it. As long as you let them know you are anal about your car they will be a little more careful especially if they think you're going to go over it and critique everything they did like I do. Demand the best quality workmanship and normally they will deliver. And on top of not having to do it your self it is tracked in their system so if theirs a warranty issue where you have to prove proper matinance performed by a CERTIFIED tech there won't be any questions asked 👍

Be careful. People always through out that Magnum Moss Act or whatever when they discuss warranty. Yes the post is correct that the dealership will need to PROVE that the aftermarket part causes the warranty. So what if the dealer goes nope, not replacing that because of your intake. Are you really going to spend the money to hire a lawyer to fight this in court? Sounds to me like it would be more expensive to go through the process of proving this over paying for the repair.

All this being said, they are not going to void warranty of say your sunroof because you have a SRI installed. However believe me, if they can make a far-fetched connection between the aftermarket part and the repair, they will.

I had the dealer tell me that installing LED bulbs would void my warranty. Total BS unless you are talking about the wiring or the headlamp assembly. They cant void my transmission warranty b/c I put new bulbs in the car is where I am going with this.

Yea....no kidding. I am sure you can just picture the look of confusion on my face when trying to determine how much of a struggle it must be for this individual to create and speak complete sentences.

I've never had a problem with the Mazda dealer. If anything, they complement me on it, offer me donuts and do w/e warranty work it's in for. Like goboltz said, as long as it's installed right and they're quality parts (and remember, Mazda actually links to Corksport from their own website).
