Any brands other than Eonon that make mazda 3 specific in dash touchscreen? I can find some, but not that work with BOSE system, which the GA5151F apparently does
I'm looking too. My wife just got a pioneer with Apple car play and I think I need it too. I was initially leaning toward Eonon, but there's some things that are holding me back.
1.- it's a company I've never heard of. That makes me nervous when there isn't a substantial savings over known brands. To me, it's worth an extra $100 to get something from an established company that has made car electronics for a long time.
2. They seem to be married to Android. That's fine, but we have iPhones. I would pay extra to have the full use of the carputer.
3. Problems. There are several threads full of people having problems with their head units. 30 second boot time? Are you going to sit in your driveway 30 seconds waiting for your backup camera to turn on? I've gone my whole life without a backup camera, but if I'm going to go through the time and effort to install one, it should work.
Number 3 is one of my issues as well. There are a number of units that would work, but Eonon looks so factory stock it's hard to turn down. Also that 100 page Ga5151 thread full of first release issues doesn't exactly inspire confidence. Additionally, never have had a good experience with a HK/Chinese company, I prefer buying domestic. So, any one know of any in dash units that are made specifically for gen 1 mazda 3 that works with the BOSE system?
I really don't think there's any. The Eonon appears to be marketed under at least one other name (pumpkin). I think it's too small of a market for other brands to try.
There are a few other "brands" that make them also, different appearannce, but all owned by Shenzen, a Chinese megacorp. I've found 4 of them now, all owned by shenzen
You could always get a double din dash kit and buy a normal touch screen unit from Pioneer, Kenwood, ect. I would have considered an Eonon but sound quality is the main reason I choose to upgrade and Eonon doesn't list their audio specifications other than that maximum power output and that it has a preset equalizer.
I had being doing the same, but I found out that the cheapest units for Apple car, or Android OS start on $599dlls.
After reading the reviews, the boot up time for those units are 45+ sec (Android units)... I was like "WHATTT???"
And this keep me thinking, the EONON units are not that bad.
That's just what I had find out. You can research by yourself if you want a confirmation.
Because the bose is an analog system, it needs an adapter soldered in to convert to digital apprently. Its covered in the GA5151F thread.. Its doable, but i dont have a soldering iron or the skill to do it. I dont think they make any units that work stock with the bose, i went to car toys and asked and they said none of their dozens of units would work. But another local one will solder the adapter for me, as long as i buy it from them, so now i just need to make a choice.
