Rust Spots on 2006 Mazda 3

I own a 2006 Mazda 3 and was wondering if anyone else is having a rust issue? I've got 2 spots in the exact same spot on opposite sides of my car on the rear wheel wells. Would I have any sort of warranty? The book says "body sheet metal perforation for 5 years." Thanks!

welcome to the forums.
there have been a few reports of such issues but tbh, i don't remember one that was covered by warranty. perhaps it's still worth a try.
can you post pictures of the spots?

There's a recall for rust on the mazdas from 04 till 07 i believe. mine is being sent in this week for repair. It's a mistake they made when the cars were going through production and the warranty was extended for an extra year. you should be fine. all of my rust is under the paint and barely visible but they're going to cut all around the wheel wells and put in some new medal. trunk and doors are going to be fixed too.

Re: Rust Spots on 2006 Mazda 3

Droped in to the dealership today and had them take a look at mine good news the rear quarters are covered under warranty, i have til sept to get it done. Bad news they are no longer doing the front fenders under the extended 6 year rust warranty.
But hey it's more than I expected so I'm very happy bout it.

Was there an official recall for this? If so, does anyone have a link? Mine's doing it too in several spots (including the wheel wells) and if I'm going to take it in I'd like to be prepared since the car is otherwise out of wannanty (2006 model with 65k miles).

Dunno if there's a site but it's official, my car is going in on the 18th. It's not a recall per say as the clerk claimed it to be a mistake on their part when fabricating the car so they're going to fix it. There IS a recall on 07+ for preventative treatment on the rust though.
