Some kind of clunking sound!? More right side, more rear. I think!

Hey guys.. been a while.... back for some info, I hope!

I'll try to make this brief.. looking for any insight or suggestions on what this might be.

Wife started the car, heard some kind of pop (upon starting only, no movement).

Now when driving and hitting bumps there's some kind of clunking sound going on. It's generally only at lower speeds, below 40, and only when there's enough up and down action going on in the suspension (I assume) to cause the noise...

Hard to pin point while driving but it sounds more on the passenger side and towards the rear.

Had it checked out today at a shop and was told it was the front sway bar end links...... replaced them. Guess what? Wasn't that.

Looking under the car I can't see or feel anything loose but I don't know what I'm looking for to begin with.

Any thoughts? I can probably bring it back to the same shop tomorrow and have them take another look but I'd like some knowledge to go with since they missed it the first time.

Thanks!

It's unclear from what you wrote who's doing the work, and I'd offer different advice depending if this is DIY or a shop.

"the same shop tomorrow and have them take another look".. I'm not clear on how that's unclear....

Either way, shop or DIY, I need something to look for.

Check the motor mounts, specifically the passenger side one as they are known to break. Look for any oil around the mount. That is just about the only thing that is going to get stress while the car is being started.

All sorted. Turned out that one of the springs had broken at the top, like the end of the first coil.

Somewhat of a leaking shock as well so ended up doing a bunch of work while everything was accessible. No more rear end service needed for a while.
