Re: Mazda 3 "OEM" BBK Upgrade Personal Log

Cool. Just didn't want you or anyone else to find out they need those bolts at the last minute. My pads should have come in yesterday. Hopefully will be starting my install tonight.

Re: Mazda 3 "OEM" BBK Upgrade Personal Log

Christ I finally installed the Ms3 front and Mz5 rear brakes. Will try to get better pics during the day, but here's one showing the clearance with the OEM 16" wheels.

Before doing this conversion I had seen similar pictures. I was secretly hoping that the calipers would scrape off the stick-on lead weights as I drove but unfortunately there's about 2.5 mm worth of clearance. /sarcasm

Front clearance:

Re: Mazda 3 "OEM" BBK Upgrade Personal Log

If you're planning on getting larger wheels you can just get regular weights that go on the outside of the wheel. And could you get a picture of the back by any chance? I'm glad these clear even if by just a little.. I wonder if it'd be the same story for the protege 5 16" as that's what i'm using in the winter.

Looks like the bolts on my 06 s are the same. Wildfrisco, are the bolts the same on your 07 as the ms?
[/quote]

Front caliper bolts were missing on the Ms3 caliper set from the dismantler but luckily my '07 Mz3 uses the same bolts, so yeah they're the same.

Re: Mazda 3 "OEM" BBK Upgrade Personal Log

Great job WildFrisco. I'm excited about getting my "OEM BBK" put on next spring/summer. Other than improved stopping power, have you noticed any other performance differences?

Can you also post a picture of the entire car?

The Mazdaspeed 3 front calipers weighs quite a bit heavier than the Mazda 3 ones. I don't know the exact amount, but I would say 5+lbs per side
