Wheel Alignment Super Thread

Hey everyone I'm starting a post to gather some alignment specs that people run on their cars in regards to daily driving and racing. Please post your specs if you have them and the kind of driving you do as well as any comments on the setup.

Front Left Front Right
Before Actual Before Actual
-2.3 -1.9 Camber -1.6 -1.6
3.9 3.5 Caster 3.1 3.2
0.13 0 Toe 0.15 0
15.3 14.9 SAI 15.1 15.1
13.0 12.9 Included Angle 13.5 13.5

Before Actual
Cross Camber -0.7 -0.3
Cross Caster 0.8 0.4
Cross SAI 0.1 -0.2
Total Toe 0.28 0

Rear Left Rear Right
Before Actual Before Actual
-2.7 -2.7 Camber -2.7 -2.7
0.10 0.04 Toe 0.15 -0.01

Before Actual
Cross Camber 0.1 0.1
Total Toe 0.26 0.03
Thrust Angle -0.03 0.03

With this setup I found that the car tracks in a straight line very well without me having to give it many corrects and the car also rotates much better than before. No cones hit at the autox!

Titanium Grey HB 5 spd, ABS, Moonroof, Leather seats, Exel RS-GT 17x7.0 Hyperblack 225/45/17 Azenis RT-615, Racing Beat Front/Rear Sway + Endlinks, Mazdaspeed MSP3 Coilovers, 88 AWR Mount, Apexcone 6000k HID, I deturboed my car and removed my built engine. I'm now stock powertrain + an Injen.

I'm not even pretending to know what all this means but I like it.* The springs hardly changed the car at all.* Sway bar really livened things up.* Tires are awsome - right now I'm at 40 psi but I keep raising it.* I think they max out at 51.

Re: Wheel Alignment Super Thread

Hit a nasty pothole 2 days ago, that blew a 3inch hole in my tire, so I was forced to get an alignment much earlier than I anticipated, anyway here are my specs after having it done.

Front Left Front Right
Before Actual Before Actual
-0.7 -0.7 Camber -1.1 -1.2
3.7 3.7 Caster 3.3 3.3
0.62 0.06 Toe -0.40 0.08
0.51 -0.01 Steer Ahead 0.51 -0.01
0.21 0.14 Total Toe 0.21 0.14

Rear Left Rear Right
Before Actual Before Actual
-1.7 -1.7 Camber -2.0 -2.0
-0.03 -0.02 Toe 0.21 0.22

Before Actual
Total Toe 0.19 0.20
Thrust Angle -0.12 -0.12

Don't know why my sheet is missing a lot of the values you guys have, but the shop was respectable, and they did a great job in speedy time. I showed up and within 5 min they had my car up on their alignment machine. And were done withint 45 min. They only charged me $65, which is really cheap here in nyc. Most shops will charge you $100+, and they're machine isn't as advance.

As for how the car tracks, well I dont know I just took a 10 min trip back home so far. All I know is the wheel isn't crooked going straight anymore, and the sterring effort has increased a little bit which I like.

Re: Wheel Alignment Super Thread

Hmmm I wonder why they have your thrust angle so off. Your car must pull to one side when having the steering wheel straight. and damn your tow was way outta whack.

Sorry to sound like a noob, but what's the thrust angle? And its hard for me to test is my car isn't tracking right, the roads around here are crap, and I'll never know if its my alignment or the road crown. But before the alignment once in awhile the wheel would shimmy a little, but that seems to be gone.

If anything, do you recommend I take it back with one of the specs posted here and have them redo it?

Re: Wheel Alignment Super Thread

I'm sure your alignment is fine if it feels fine. If you do a wikipedia search for thrust angle you can find a diagram that explains what it is. I tried to put it into words but i sucked miserably.

Re: Wheel Alignment Super Thread

Hi Folks...*

I was just wondering about wheel aligngment adjustment do you know which parameters are actually ajustable on the Mazda3....Because on one of my older cars the only thing adjustable was toe-in....Does anyone know if there are more adjustments on these new Japanese cars now?
