Question Transmission Control Module TCM Replacement

There we have it. Cruising down highway, all the sudden several hard bumps, engine is revving mad high, AT light came on. Towed the car home and got code U0101. We all experienced the same symptoms. CEL and AT light, hard shifts, gear stuck on 3rd (hence why started revving cuz I was going 70). Found my TCM part number now here's the question, (and my car info)

06 Mazda3 2.3L (TCM part# L32E-18-9E1B)

eBay seller modulerepair offers remanufactured TCM with a part# L34T, which when asked they state is reprogrammed to fit vehicles that use L32E. Given it's a $300 vs $600-700 (buying new) I'm more inclined to take his word and give it a shot.
One user here has experience replacing a TCM using their remanufactured part with no problems (for months now). I just don't know if s/he also got a L34T

What do you guys think? Or does anyone have experiences buying from modulerepair?
I never knew this is quite the common issue seeing how many of us here had run into the same thing.
Thanks in advance! This forum seriously, is DA BOMB!!!!

Lol no worries. I ended up just order the remanufactured TCM from modulerepair, received it today and installed it. Car is running like a charm already. They assured me several times that it will work lol they weren't lying :P

I also did what atxjax suggested from his post to strap it on the brake line not at the original spot as it might cause heat damage again.

Can't find my TCM

I have a 2008 Mazda 3 I which is having automatic transmission issues. I can move the shifter into gear, but the transmission doesn't actually move into gear and the gear indicator on the dash doesn't shift out of park. I'm convinced it's the TCM.

I removed the battery box and the airbox and looked in the location under the trans mount and I cannot find the TCM anywhere. Any ideas where it could be located?

Is right under the battery. If you take out the battery case you'll see it.

hey ianhalverson, did you get a CEL? If so I'd recommend you get the error code read first to ensure it is the TCM. But if you're comfortable with your diagnosis, the TCM is sitting right on top of the transmission box. So after removing the battery, you need to take the whole bucket out. (I just unscrewed the bucket and flip it to the side with all the cables connected) TCM is hidden under the metal base that holds the battery bucket in place. You can't see it directly and the metal base doesn't seem removable (at least to me) I just reached under and unscrewed the TCM and pull it out. It was hard unscrewing it cuz I had very minimum room to work with and there was no way i could've screw it back in. But since I never planned on putting it back where it sits, it didn't matter. Good luck with everything

yep. how come they mounted the TCM on such a weird spot. i tried so hard but still unable to remove the TCM. the screw underneath that metal plate was so hard to reach. i just gave up and left it there. tied up my new TCM on the brake lines atxjax from different post. works perfectly.
