Hi, welcome to the forum and good luck with your upcoming purchase.

There are many threads and discussions on the speed3's ability to handle snow. The general consensus is that if you have the right snow tires, you will have little to worry about.

If you're doing any amount of driving during the winter then driving on the stock summer tires is a terrible idea. Even in the relatively flat area you live in you can very easily lose control of your car by using inappropriate tires in cold weather. The rubber compounds in the summer tires is going to freeze solid and basically won't give you any grip. Invest in a set of 16" steel wheels and winter tires..... the cost of those greatly outweighs getting into an accident.

I drove my 2007 MazdaSpeed3 during some nasty Michigan winters on Blizzak Revo1's on 16" rims with no issues whatsoever.

Re: how does the mazda speed 3 handle in the snow ????

I used to live in the Rocky Mountains when I bought my Speed3. I bought a set of used 17" "snowflake" Mazda rims and installed Michelin Pilot Alpin PA3 tires on them. With a light touch on the pedals, my Speed3 stayed planted in the worst of snow - and you better believe they get a lot more of it in the Rockies than in Boston.
