How does the 3 handle in the snow?

Hi Everyone,

This will be my first winter with my brand new car. Unfortunatley I live in a place that gets quite cold and it snows.

I envy the owners that live in all year sunny places!!

Anyhow wanted to know how does the 3 handle in the snow with winter tires?

At this time, I am strongly considering parking the car for the winter......

Please comment.

Thanks!!

Re: How does the 3 handle in the snow?

I saw TONS of Mazda 3's last time I was up in Canada, so yeah... obviously they can't be that bad in the snow.

I got through last winter on the stock Goodyear RSA's. They sucked, but even with the suckiest of sucky tires I got through the winter just fine. So if you have winter tires I'll bet you'll be just fine!

Yep, as long as you have winter tires the Mazda3 is fine in moderate snow, 20-25 cm. I drive up and over Blue Mountain going to-from work and had no problems last winter, even on days when I was on the road before the plows.

The key element is the snow tires. If you don't have those, beware.

I lived in Manitoba and have always had winter tires on previous my cars as well as my mazda3. Winters are def recommended as the stock tires are useless in snow/ice conditions.

it is terrible with the stock Goodyears... even with traction control... hopefully it will be better with my new Bridgestone Grids 019's

Re: How does the 3 handle in the snow?

We just had 5" on snow here in northeast PA, and the Dunlap Winter Sports mounted on 16 rims I have on my Mazda 2 HB zipped through even un-plowed roads with very little DSC activity.

Just don't use the stock tires and you'll be fine
